He should feel ashamed of the words he used, his parents are suffering for it: Supreme Court on Allahbadia’s plea

Today, Supreme Court has  granted interim protection from arrest to YouTuber Ranveer Allahabadia (Beer Biceps) in FIRs filed in Mumbai, Guwahati, and Jaipur over obscenity charges linked to his remarks on the “India’s Got Latent” show. Further, Supreme Court directs Allahbadia to submit its Passport and would seek prior information to go outside the country.

During the hearing Justice Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh strongly condemned  the wording and intent of Allahbadia’s statements. The court decided to halt the filing of new FIRs against Ranveer Allahabadia while extending protection from arrest, despite delivering stern criticism of his controversial remarks. This ensures his legal proceedings continue without further immediate threat of arrest.

Ranveer Allahbadia is a famous digital influencer known for his content related to fitness, podcast and vlogs. He faced numerous formal complaints (FIRs) in both Assam and Maharashtra as well as other states  due to his divisive statements during his appearance on the “India’s Got Latent.” show.

The case continues to be evaluated by Hon’ble Justices sitting on a judicial bench.

During the hearing Justice Surya Kant evaluated Ranveer Allahbadia about his dirty statements that appeared in media.

“Are you defending the statements?”

In response, Ranveer’s lawyer, Abhinav Chandrachud, firmly denied it and stated,

“Not at all. I personally am disgusted. But whether it rises to the level of criminal offense is another question.”

 Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh serve as the current court that conducts the hearings.

During hearings the Supreme Court posed an essential question about the factual basis of the accusations.

“What are the parameters of obscenity/vulgarity?”

The lawyer representing Ranveer articulated the motivation behind his plea by stating that:

“This is for clubbing of FIRs. Petitioner has received death threats. First in Maharashtra, then Assam, now Jaipur…there is a reward…offense is old S.153A (promoting hatred).”

Judicial authority Surya Kant strongly criticized the words spoken by Ranveer Allahbadia.

“If this is not obscenity in this country, then what it!? See the language you are using! You have got license to speak all kind of…?”

Justice Surya Kant strongly criticized Ranveer Allahbadia while making surprise comments about the reasons behind his public statements.

“He is insulting parents also! There is something dirty in this person’s mind that has been spread through this program. Why the Courts should favor him?”

Supreme Court informed the Counsel Abhinav Chandrachud appearing for Allahbadia that the threats he is receiving will be taken care by due process of law. The top court made a decision to protect him from future arrests and existing harassment under this cas

Ranveer Allahabadia’s joke segment on India’s Got Latent provoked a major public anger which initiated the controversy. Several FIRs were filed against him in Mumbai and Assam leading him to draw attention from police investigations. A complaint at the Assam Police named Ranveer Allahabadia and four additional influencers as they allegedly used their broadcast to spread obscene material through sexually vulgar dialogue.

The Assam Police named Ranveer Allahabadia and four other influencers in the FIR, accusing them of “promoting obscenity and engaging in sexually explicit and vulgar discussion” during the show. After the complaint, a police team from Assam traveled to Mumbai to interrogate the individuals involved.

The controversy resulted in two states Maharashtra and Assam filing FIRs against Ranveer Allahabadia. Current legal proceedings continue while the Supreme Court planned to hold a hearing regarding the petition.
